What is a wiki?
Very simply, wikis are websites to which users accessing the website can add to or edit content, as they wish. Probably the best-known example of a wiki is Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia; since its inception in 2001, its content has grown to almost a million articles, written by people who have registered to create articles (or expand or edit them).

Collaboration is the engine that drives wikis. By joining efforts in composing content on a particular topic, there is significant potential for producing high-quality, purposeful information.
